William K. "Billy" Busch

President and CEO

Marc Gottfried

VP Brewing and Head Brewmaster

 WILLIAM K. BUSCH BREWING CO.

The son of August "Gussie" Busch, Jr., Billy was born and grew up at Grant's Farm where he oversaw and assisted in the farm's operation. Although he never worked for A-B, he started in the beer business in 1984 as an independent beer wholesaler in Florida and Texas.

After three years of business planning and working with top brewmasters in Germany, he and his team developed two premium brands - Kräftig and Kräftig Light. In a series of measured steps, Busch plans to expand eventually to the national marketplace.

Brewing is in Marc's blood. He started making beer in his room at the age of 14. By 21, he was brewmaster of the Morgan Street Brewery where his "Golden Pilsner" won national acclaim. For him, product quality has always been paramount as evidenced by Kräftig adhering to Reinheitsgebot, the five century old German purity laws.

Reigniting a St. Louis Legacy

In 1864, William K. "Billy" Busch's great-grandfather, Adolphus Busch I, partnered with his father-in-law Eberhard Anheuser, to create what became the nation's largest brewing company.

With the takeover of A-B in 2008, many St. Louisan's felt the city lost a piece of its heritage. Billy felt the same so he began plotting a comeback and the William K. Busch Brewing Company was launched in November 2011. It is not a micro-brewery. Its Kräftig Lager and Kräftig Light compete with premium beers like Budweiser, Coors and Miller. Kräftig has received local, national and international awards. With passion, determination and hard work, Kräftig sales are exceeding expectations, already winning about 1% of beer sales in the St. Louis market.

Our guest speakers will share wisdom, based on experience, that will help drive continued success for you and your organization. Please submit questions for Billy and Marc in advance to brea@claytoncapitalpartners.com.
